INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1/4 chopped onions
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 cups beef stock (or beef onion soup packets)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 3 Tbs cold water
- 3 Tbs cornstarch
DIRECTIONS
- Combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- We prefer thinner patties, so we shape them into 4 patties about 3/4 inch thick, but adjust the thickness to your liking.
- Cook patties in a skillet in a little oil for 10 minutes, or until both sides are brown.
- Add stock, onion slices, mushrooms, and garlic to the skillet.
- Heat to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove patties from the skillet, and keep them warm.
- Bring the onion mixture to a boil.
- Combine water and cornstarch.
- Add the water and cornstarch mixture to the onion mixture.
- Bring to a boil while stirring constantly for 1 minute.
- Put the meat back into the pan to warm up, then cover it with sauce. Place it on a platter and serve.
