Ma’s Rolls

I dare you to eat just one! Ma’s addicting rolls are so soft and fluffy.

Ingredients:

  • 4-1/2 tsp yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cold water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 7 1/2 cups flour

Directions:

  1. In a separate bowl from your mixer, mix the yeast, 1/2 warm water, and sugar. Let the yeast mixture rise for 2-5 minutes.
  2. Boil 1 cup of water and add in shortening. Melt it down. Remove from the stove and let it cool before adding it to the mixture.
  3. To your mixer add the eggs, sugar, 1/2 cup water, and salt.
  4. Combine the yeast and shorting mixture with the eggs, sugar, water, and salt.
  5. Mix in the flour.
  6. Spray a separate bowl and add the dough mixture in.
  7. Add a wet cheesecloth over the bowl and keep it in the fridge for 8-12 hrs.
  8. Two hours before baking, take the dough out of the fridge.
  9. Roll dough into balls and place in sprayed baking dish on baking sheet. (dough should be sticky)
  10. Let rolls rise for 1-1/2 to 2 hrs.
  11. Bake at 400°F for 10-15 minutes.
